India stunned Hong Kong in the opening day of the Uber Cup Asian qualifying tournament, held this week in Nakorn Ratchasima, Thailand, beating the tiny powerhouse 3-2. Hong Kong suffered from the absence of Wang Chen and the defeat of Zhou Mi by Saina Nehwal, who put her team on the right track. Murgunde in the third women’s singles and the pair Gutta/Ponnappa did the rest to clinch the remaining winning points.
