Elisa Chanteur, the Martinique-born French player, scooped her first international title in Mauritius this weekend, beating Egyptian and African Champion Hadia Hosny in the final of the event after beating Australian Cooper in the semis. The men’s singles event saw the victory of India’s Oscar Bansal, who didn’t have to play the whole match after his opponent, compatriot Abdul Raheem, had to give up because of an injury in the first game.
In the doubles, France’s Chanteur and her boyfriend Olivier Fossy were close to bringing one more title to France, but lost 20-22, 20-22 to Mauritius’ Karen Foo Kune and Uki Kasah.
The locals scooped 2 more titles in the men’s doubles (Louison/Edoo beat India’s Raheem/Anthony Raj 21-17, 22-20) and the women’s double where the Yoni Louison’s younger sister Yeldi won the title with Australia’s Cooper. They beat Louison’s compatriots Awaram/Aboobakar 15-21, 21-18, 21-18.
The competition was held in Rose Hill, Mauritius, but no results whatsoever were available from the tournament in official websites – something to look after for next editions.
