Asian Games badminton gold medallist Shin Baek Cheol is set to appear on Korean television’s Love Switch (site in Korean) a sort of dating game variety show. Shin will be on the show with cyclist Choi Rae Seon and thirty single women who will presumably be looking for dates.
The media attention is reminiscent of that enjoyed two years ago following Lee Yong Dae’s gold medal performance at the Beijing Olympics. Both shuttlers won their mixed doubles titles playing with now retired Lee Hyo Jung. While Lee Yong Dae was dubbed the ‘winking prince’ by the Korean press for his reaction on camera following his win in Beijing, some in the Korean media have bestowed on Shin the monicker ‘badminton’s Bi[Rain]’ after a well-known Korean pop singer.
The programme is set to air at midnight local time on Monday, December 20th.
