In his post-match interview, Malaysian number two men’s singles Hafiz Hashim gave a statement to the press that he has the intention to leave the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and go professional. He has not given his official letter to BAM yet.
In a press conference, BAM’s honorary secretary Ng Chin Chai stated that Hafiz had spoken to him about the intention to leave BAM and go professional before Christmas last year. Ng persuaded Hafiz not to do so, as he strongly believes that the country still needs him.
“The BAM council will decide on this matter but Hafiz would have to give his official letter before the council meeting that is to come,” said Ng.
