The results are in and Badzine readers have once again voted China’s as Badminton Player of the Year for 2010.   Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia was a very close runner-up, with 97 votes to Lin’s 110, but evidently Lee’s All England, Commonwealth Games, and 2010 Super Series Finals titles – not to mention his 5 other Super Series and 2 Grand Prix Gold titles – were not enough to convince Badzine readers that he was player of the year.

Lin Dan won only one Super Series title in 2010 but his Asian Games gold medal, his fourth Thomas Cup win and the fact that these last two involved decisive wins over Lee Chong Wei were likely what earned him the votes.

India’s Saina Nehwal, Commonwealth gold medallist and winner of 3 Super Series titles, was third with 34 votes while 15-year-old Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand – who won her second World Junior title as well as her first Grand Prix and Grand Prix Gold titles – was a surprising fourth with 29.
