The body of David Yeung, a 19-year-old shuttler from Mauritius, was found on Monday in the shores of Tamarin Bay in Mauritius after he disappeared the previous day with his friend Tony Foon Pow Wong Yung Shing. The two friends drowned in a dangerous area of the Bay on Sunday in a tragic accident.
Yeung was a promising talent from Mauritius as he had been preselected to participate in the upcoming Indian Ocean Islands Games and had received a scholarship from the Malaysian government to pursue his studies and continue playing badminton in Malaysia.
We at Badzine send our condolences to the two boys’ family and friends amongst whom are Karen and Kate Foo Kune, the island nation’s best badminton players, who had been close to David for many years.
