Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen, the current world number 1 men’s doubles pair, proved that not only do they reign supreme in Denmark but are indeed showing the form that can take them to the All England title on Sunday after inflicting a crushing defeat upon team mates Jonas Rasmussen and Mads Conrad Petersen in today’s second round.
Article and Interview by Mark Phelan (Live in Birmingham)
There are many who will never forget the men’s doubles final from Birmingham last year when Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen lost out in a thrilling deciding rubber to Lars Paaske and Jonas Rasmussen.
Lars Paaske has since retired and Rasmussen, with new partner Mads Conrad Petersen, was back to try and regain the title that he won in dramatic fashion last year. Both pairs faced off in the second round today and it was the world number one pairing who showed that they have the game to once again challenge for the title come Sunday afternoon.
Rasmussen and Conrad were merely passengers for the majority of the match as Boe and Mogensen ran out comfortable winners 21-11, 21-7.
