DANISH INTERCLUBS – TSS Entreprise…

Team Skaelskor Slagese was crowned champion on Tuesday after they beat Greve in the final of the Danish Interclubs– one of the toughest leagues in the world.

It didn’t start out well for Team Skaelskor Slagese, who were looking for a revenge from last year’s final against Greve, the titleholder. In spite of having been in great form lately, Hans-Kristian Vittinghus was beaten by Joachim Persson (photo), who gave his team an important start in the tie, winning in straight games 21-17, 21-18.

The lead wouldn’t last long as Judith Meulendijks edged out Nanna Brosolat to put TSS back in the match. The Dutch veteran, crowned in Orleans this Sunday was back on time in Denmark to take a crucial point, 21-12, 21-17. Once again – for the last time, Greve was to take the advantage thanks to the women’s doubles – Kamilla Juhl and Li Wenyan, but soon, TSS took over logically with Mogensen/Fischer, then Mateusiak and Zieba, who beat Jonas Rasmussen and Christinna Pedersen.

At 3-2, it looked as if the tie was to go to a deciding “Golden Set”, but it was not counting on TSS’s Kim Brun (photo), who was facing the much more experienced Jens-Kristian Leth. The giant – formerly in the national team – took the first game in no time 21-7, but Kim took the second 21-16.

The third game was a thriller and it went down to the wire, when the young gun got back from a 12-4 from Leth to finally win 21-19, and seal the tie, creating the biggest upset of the evening.

TSS takes back a title they once had won – Peter Gade was part of the team then – before Greve took it home again.
