Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa were certainly not happy to find out that their base price was cut in half, just hours before the auction of the Indian Badminton League began, without their being previously notified. The Indian shuttlers, Commonwealth Games Champions were told only after the auction that they had been sold at US$25,000 and $31,000 respectively instead of the US$50,000 promised beforehand. They both voiced their disappointement in an interview published by the Mumbai Mirror this morning here.

The organizers apologized and hinted they would be ready to give the missing part of the cash to both players, but the harm was done and Ponnappa hinted she might consider pulling out of the event.
