A few years after his resignation from the coaching staff of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), Misbun Sidek was recently asked to come and help as their new head coach, given the poor results on the international stage by the Malaysian squad. However, Lee Chong Wei’s former coach refused to take up the offer.
“We wrote to Misbun and he responded by saying that he could not take up the offer because of personal matters,” BAM President Tengku Mahaleel, told The Star. “We will now go back to our Plan B and appoint two chief coaches – one in the singles and one in the doubles.”
Amongst the plans announced yesterday, the final set-up for the Malaysian squad – a full time training facility for 200 players, to be ready in 18 months.
