Young British badminton star Sarah Milne, who featured in the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, has called it quits. The promising 22-year-old player officially announced her yesterday via Facebook:

With regret I would like to announce that I have decided to stop playing badminton and on Monday I withdrew myself from the GB programme! I have dreamt of being a badminton player since I was little and it is all I have ever wanted. This has been a very difficult decision for me and I thank all of those close to me that have helped and supported me through this. Furthermore, I would like to clarify that it is not because of injury that I have decided to stop. Badminton has given me so much and for so long I was totally consumed in passion for it. I am very grateful to everyone from juniors to seniors that I have met, worked with, worked for, partnered or bumped into, you made everything worthwhile and special. Thank you, you hold a special place in my heart and I have made some of the strongest friendships through the sport.

Sarah has been appointed as a Project Manager in a merchant finance company. We at Badzine wish her all the best in the future.
