“Actually I wanted to retire quietly but my brother [Kido] told the media that this Indonesia Open will be my last tournament,” said Pia.
Pia admitted that she and her husband are planning to have a baby after her retirement. “I’m looking forward to have best wishes from all of you on the program for having a baby.”
Pia has made a great contribution for Indonesia national badminton. She was part of the Uber Cup team in 2008 when Indonesia finished as the runner-up.
In addition to playing mixed with Markis, she played in women’s singles doubles, too. The 27-year-old woman reached the world’s top ten with Rizky Amelia Pradipta. She also played mixed doubles with Fran Kurniawan before she was paired with Markis Kido for the last part of her career.
After all the things she did in badminton, Pia claimed that she has no plan after retirement: “I have no idea about the future, we’ll see,” said Pia.
