The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has made known today that there will not be a total ban on Russian athletes preparing for the 2016 Rio Games in spite of the recent McLaren report. The IOC handed over the decision to each separate International Federation to discuss the matter internally. For Badminton, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) has now to decide whether the Russian shuttlers will be cleared to go or not. The decision should be made known quickly as the draw is to be held on Tuesday in Rio. This is the second time the BWF is being placed in emergency status on a doping case, after Ratchanok Intanon a week ago. The four Russians who have qualified, Natalia Perminova, Vladimir Malkov, Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov (photo) are hoping for a positive outcome.
