Two-time Olympic men’s doubles gold medallist Fu Haifeng has appeared on the entry list for the upcoming Malaysia Open. He is entered in the event along with current mixed doubles world #1 Zheng Siwei.
It will have been nearly six months since Fu last played in a BWF ranking event, when he and Xu Chen were eliminated in the first round of the French Open Superseries. Xu himself in nearing the end of a long hiatus. It started the same week but he is expected back next week for the German Open Grand Prix Gold.
There were reports in the Chinese press late last year that Fu intended to retire after the Superseries Finals but he ended up skipping that event, the BWF made no formal announcement, and he and Zhang Nan remain on the world ranking tables.
