For the second time in a month, the (BAM) has had to accept the resignation of a pair of Rio silver medallists.  Today, BAM published an official statement on their Facebook page saying they had accepted the resignations of former world #1 Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong.  The Malaysian national body expressed its ‘sincere appreciation and gratitude’ to Goh and Tan for ‘sharing the values, principles and philosophy of the Association during their 17-year tenure with the National team’.

Goh and Tan’s departure follows that last month of the Rio mixed doubles silver medallists Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying, after which BAM released a similarly-worded statement.  Both pairs appear intent on continuing their international careers as independent players and both are entered in both the Malaysia and Indonesia Masters Super 500 events later this month, as well as the Thailand Masters Super 300, which kicks off in a week’s time.
