EUROPEAN JUNIORS 2011 – Early blow for Denmark

Denmark may be dominating the European scene in the senior level, but their younger counterparts have yet to learn from the Germans, who stunned the Scandinavians 3/2 in the semi final of the Team event of the European Junior Championships in Helsinki on Monday. The Scandinavians had an advantage in the men’s section, with Viktor Axelsen and the duo of Fladberg/Sorensen, but they lost the other three events, including the key match between the two Olympians Fabienne Deprez and Lene Clausen. The latter had beaten the German before but couldn’t manage to pull it off this time, leaving Germany to scoop the first ticket for the final.

Russia will be their opponent on Tuesday after a brilliant won over the unexpected guests at this stage – the Turkish, who have proven in the past that their youngsters are amongst the best europeans prospects.
