Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae are still on track for the Olympics, according to a recent report by Badminton Korea magazine. The Korean-language monthly publication talked to national doubles coach Kang Kyung Jin about the latest Korean contingents for next month’s Grand Prix events in the United States and Canada, which show Lee paired with two-time Swiss Open champion Ko Sung Hyun in the men’s doubles.
Kang told Badminton Korea that the main objective at the U.S. and Canada Opens is to accumulate ranking points for the new mixed doubles pairings. Lee is also entered in men’s doubles solely in order to help him to continue to adapt to the fitness demands of playing in both disciplines.
The North American tour marks the second time this year that Lee has been entered with a partner other than Jung Jae Sung, a pairing that dates back to early 2006. The first one never actually materialized as Shin Baek Cheol’s injury prevented his temporary partnership with Lee for the Badminton Asia Championships in April.
