Juliane Schenk and Ratchanok Intanon have withdrawn from the , leaving the bottom half of the women’s singles draw wide open.  The two women, seeded 2nd and 5th respectively, were expected to meet in the quarter-final.

The biggest beneficiary from their absence is likely to be Korea Open winner Sung Ji Hyun.  If she can win her quarter-final, likely against whoever emerges from the first round matchup between Minatsu Mitani and Porntip Buranaprasertsuk, she will have an unseeded semi-final opponent.

The only other withdrawals from main draws were Malaysia’s Vivian Hoo / Woon Khe Wei in women’s doubles and Adcock and Ellis of England in men’s doubles.
