The Badminton World Federation (BWF) issued a press release on Monday stating that it would conduct a thorough investigation into the incidents surrounding the outbreak of violence during the men’s doubles final at the Yonex tournament on Sunday in Richmond, B.C.  A black card was issued to  Bodin Issara and Pakkawat Vilailak of Thailand, who were disqualified from the final, in which their opponents were another Thai duo, Maneepong Jongjit and Nipitphon Puangpuapech.

“The world-governing body has procedures in place to deal with such situations and this matter will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee,” said the BWF press release.  “Until this process is concluded there will be no further comment by the BWF.”
