Badzine readers would prefer to watch top-level badminton at Europe’s biggest tournaments in 2014, according to our latest Badzine Poll.
We asked our readers which tournaments you would like to attend in 2014 were travel costs, time, and ticket availability not an object. The winners were the BWF World Championships, to be held in late August this year in Copenhagen (pictured above), and the All England Badminton Championships in Birmingham, the sport’s oldest elite competition.
345 readers responded to the poll and nearly half, or 157, chose the Worlds, while the All England came in second, selected by just over 30% of respondents. The top Asian tournament on the list was the Indonesia Open, which received just 15 fewer votes than the All England. Unless Badzine readers are drawn particularly to the city of Copenhagen, this suggests that the favourite for 2015 would be clear, given that the BWF World Championships will move to Jakarta that year.
Of the multi-sport events taking place this year, the Incheon Asian Games was the most popular, at #6 on the list, although it received only 29 votes, just one ahead of the Australian Open.
For those of you who are travelling to watch the best in our sport compete this year, we wish you pleasant travels and for those readers located in or near Birmingham or Copenhagen, we wish you all the best in finding tickets and you can feel good about being the envy of your fellow Badzine readers.
