Dutch-born Tjitte Weistra, 34, who has been coaching New Zealand for the past 6 years, grabbed the National Singles Championships at Hamilton this Sunday. The former national team player from Netherlands beat his team-mate from Waikato Michael Fowke 21-12, 21-17 after defeating Joe Wu 21-13, 22-20 in the semi-finals.

The rest of the titles were won by Amanda Browne in the women’s singles, while Donna Haliday scooped two titles – the mixed with Henry Tam and the doubles with Danielle Barry. Leyton-Davis and Tam got gold in the men’s doubles.
