Badminton does have its fair share of players who have picked up music in their free time, with notable examples being Peter Gade, and Greysia Polii with their trusty guitars and even a top player who has become the professional singer Raya.
However, it is not every day that a famous entertainer makes himself known in the badminton world.
Just last week it was the case when Yonex Korea announced that Nichkhun, a member of K-pop band 2PM, had been named their official model. Then yesterday, Yonhap News Agency announced that his very own Nichkhun Collection ‘green label’ had been launched by the brand.
The K-pop singer had displayed his badminton prowess most recently on different Korean variety shows and is also known to be a good friend of Lee Yong Dae, with whom he appeared in a special exhibition event on qualifying day at the 2010 Korea Open. Prior to his K-pop debut, Nichkhun actively participated in badminton in the United States, having been a badminton coach at Rosmead High School there.
