In one month exactly, June 28th 2014 will be another day to remember for badminton fans around the world. As for previous editions, this day marks the get-together between badminton and solidarity for “Solibad Day”. And the theme for 2014 is likely to create the buzz around the planet.
“After amazing flashmobs in 2012 (in 100 cities around the world) and 2013, we wanted to do something different to celebrate Solidarity” explains Raphael Sachetat, founder of the charity organization Solibad. “So we thought we could ask fans and supporters to come up with creative ideas to promote the seven letters of SOLIBAD, and some have already given a hint that this could be quite fun to watch.”
Badminton fans as well as Solibad Ambassadors around the world have already thought of creating human letters, or big letters with shuttlecocks, balloons, rackets, food, using the shape or the colours of the foundation’s logo.
“A big Solibad banner will be flying, trailed by a hot air balloon in the amazing city of Rocamadour, France. We’ll have SOLIBAD letters in front of iconic monuments. And Solibad Ambassadors as well as famous players have promised that they would publish “Solibad Selfies” in most creative ways,” adds the French reporter.
Anybody can join
Unlike previous years where a minimum number of people by city was necessary and with a minimum of preparation to perform a flashmob, this year’s theme gives this opportunity to be part of Solibad day to anyone who feels close to Solibad’s values. No matter whether you live in the far east, in Alaska, in Namibia, New York or Rio de Janeiro, whether you are on your own, with 6 other people or with your whole club, all you need is to create the letters “S-O-L-I-B-A-D” anyways you want.
You can join some of our famous Ambassadors who will be part of the event in their respective cities (check the list on the official page). You can also do it on your own and Hashtag Solibad on your own selfies or send a photo on June 28th at: communication@solibad.net
