Both Japanese pairs, along with Nozomi Okuhara had to be withdrawn from the U.S. Grand Prix event, this first time in the 8 historical editions of the Finals that qualified players were already entered in a concurrent event.  Even with the substitution, Japan will still have one of the largest contingents at the Finals.  China has the maximum six pairs and four singles players, for a total of 14 players as both Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei have qualified in two events.  Denmark has six entries and Korean and Japan have five qualifiers each.
