Korea’s National Badminton Team could be heading into the Li-Ning Sudirman Cup with a men’s singles player who once beat Peter Gade and Lee Chong Wei in one week. 2012 India Open champion Son Wan Ho reappeared on the list for the national team this week for the first time since Christmas Eve last year, when he and doubles specialist Yoo Yeon Seong were both forced to leave temporarily to begin their compulsory military service (see related article here).
It is still unclear whether the Koreans intend to field Son for the Sudirman Cup, which kicks off in just 12 days. The same goes for Yoo Yeon Seong and also women’s doubles veteran Ha Jung Eun, both of whom are in their last day of an evaluation session for the national doubles squad.
