After recurrent injuries to her knee and the impossibility to train in proper conditions because of the pain she felt, Pi Hongyan took the decision to get rid of the problem once and for all: she underwent today in Paris. The operation went fine but it will take some time for France’s no. 1 shuttler to get back on the court.  She is expected to start training properly within 3 months. This means she’ll miss the upcoming French Nationals, where she was seeking a 7th title in a row, as well as the European Team Championships and the first legs of the 2011 Super Series.
