Former Badminton World Federation () President Kang Young Joong (pictured) has been elected the new President of the Korea Council of Sport for All.  The Council is the governing body for recreational sport in the but the Korean government recently decided that it would be amalgamated with the Korean Olympic Committe (KOC) early next year.

Dr. Kang won a hotly-contested race against former judo competitor and long-time Council member Jeon Byeong Gwan with 59% of the vote to assume the office for a mere one-year term.  However, with the amalgamation next year, he is considered to be a key contender to take over the helm of the newly-amalgamated body, which will have its election in February, 2016.

Dr. Kang served two terms as President of the (BKA) from 2003 to 2009 and was also President of the Confederation (BAC) from 2003 to 2005 and later of the BWF from 2005 to 2013.
